Conisbrough Music Fest 2017 is thrilled to announce that a very positive community project will see two of its regular youth members take centre stage in the SUBSET dance stage, and officially open this years festival.

Doncaster’s “Breaking Beats”  is a venture funded by “Youth Music” and undertaken by Aaron Jack & Ian Byatt, both of whom have a long-standing history of working within the Community Arts environment in the Doncaster area. The main aim is to fill the void that is currently left within sections of the community to engage with disenfranchised members of it, creating diversionary activities. Initially their primary focus is to establish a series of outreach projects within the community of Doncaster, where participants can engage in music projects.

Breaking Beats have been actively involved in Conisbrough Music Fest from its very beginning in 2015, with DJ workshops, graffiti sessions and art projects being just a small part of their work with the youth of Doncaster.

Sessions involve some really rewarding provisions for our kids to enhance skills they would never normally have access to, and with all this in mind we look forward to championing two of its success stories in the shape of Ben Nettleship and Shannon Woodhouse. They will be DJ ing on the dance stage in what we see as the next step in their progress of learning the art of DJ ing.

We for one will be showing our support on the day, and feel proud our community can produce talent at this age.

Youth Music,Breaking Beats,Conisbrough Music Fest and SUBSET invite you come see a real success in the making  with Ben and Shannon at 12:30pm 1st July at this years CMF. See you at the front.

What makes you stand out from the crowd?……………Individuality?……a desire to change things?

As the great Carl Cox recently said, “anyone can download the latest 100 tracks and play them on a controller these days”, and he’s right, access to the greatest tunes around at the moment are instantly available, but playing them in a robotic fashion and then expecting a knowledgable crowd to get behind you is a big mistake.

Cue jUDD WORDSWORTH, AKA Craig Wordsworth. After joining the many DJs online at WWW.MIXLR.COM/SUBSET ,Judd was quick to realise that there was a sure fire way to get your sets more attention and your bookings doubled………… playing music no one else was playing.

His party sets of funk, soul and disco set most of SUBSETS nights off perfectly and his style of tunes get the nod from people of all ages and genres.

Expect to hear sun drenched funkadelica, and disco tinged grooves to get the feet tapping, the cans cracking and the heads bobbing…….all in the SUBSET dance stage at this years CMF.

You can catch JUDD and his funk train this year live and online @ . And playing sets this year at

6th May, Guaba Beach Bar, Limassol, Cyprus

1st July, Conisbrough Music Fest.

We are working hard  to make our third Annual music festival the most successful yet, and we'd like you all to help us and local good causes by buying raffle tickets for our BIG RAFFLE - and here's why.....
From the proceeds of the first two events we have been able to support over 15 community groups with £3,000 in gifts and grants. We have supported local schools such as the De Warrene Academy, Denaby St Albans, Conisbrough Castle Academy, Ivanhoe, Morley Place and Pennine View with vouchers for musical instruments. We've helped youth groups at Tom Hill, St Peters ABC, St Peters Church Play Group, Conisbrough Library and Conisbrough Scouts with donations. Assistance has also been provided to the Conisbrough Cavaliers Marching Band, Entour, the Conisbrough Surgery Defribulator and Conisbrough Christmas Lights appeals. We have also been instrumental in the organisation of Conisbrough’s part in the Tour de Yorkshire and the Poppies at Conisbrough Castle event.
Our organisers are all local people and we believe that in these austere times it is important that our local community rallies to support itself.
This year we hope to introduced further benefits with our big raffle. This is a completely new innovation and all the prizes have been willingly provided by the local business community. In total we have raised 50 prizes with a value of over £2,500.
Local shops such as Garrisons, Crusty Cob, Maureens and Lockwoods Florists, Weldricks , Seafish Restaurant, Gino’s, Roma’s Pizzeria, Yummies , Indus, Hot Chocolate Lounge and Molly’s at Chimes have all donated prizes. In addition, there's a £75 Photo Shoot on offer from Castle View Images and a £50 Voucher by Hair Boutique.
Local Football Clubs have been keen to help with Sheffield Wednesday providing a signed football and shirt, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United a signed football, Wednesday and Barnsley have given tickets to a match next season.
The star prize is provided by Doncaster’s One Call Insurance with a gift of an Executive Box for 10 at a game in next year’s Division 1 for a Rovers game. Locally too, Kingswood at the Dearne Valley Centre are donating both a full day and a half day experience for parties of 10 people which would include zip wire, laser quest, canoeing and many more activities. Add to that a food hamper from Sainsburys, English Heritage VIP passes donated by Conisbrough Castle, a Purple Voucher Book, Slimming World Goody Bag, Sunday lunch at the Hill Top, Joe Grays basket of fruit, biscuits, chocolates and wine and it must be one of the most varied Community raffles ever!
We have asked local groups to sell the raffle tickets and in exchange, we are donating half the proceeds to aid their funds. We have good support for this and our current list of sellers is, three Denaby United Junior Football teams, Conisbrough Cricket Club Juniors, Conisbrough Scouts, Warmsworth Lions FC, the Taekwando Club, Ivanhoe Centre, Castle Academy, St Peters Boxing Gym, Entour, Aspiring 2, Craganour TARA , Wayne and Sarah's Coffee Charity Mornings, and the Groves Juniors FC.
We are still looking for more local community groups to participate so please get in touch.
Buy tickets, support a local good cause, you choose who you buy tickets from - it's as simple as that!

Along with fellow local DJs, Jnr James has seen it all. With a love of dance music across all genres, he started spinning at local bars and the famous outdoor raves of the early 90s and was a part of the hugely popular lunacy events in Denaby. He and other like minded Djs put on these events and worked hard to give people an excuse to have a good time with no other reason but to have a damn good party themselves. And party they did.

Next up for Jnr was Doncaster’s “Perfect Beat”,which literally put the town on the dance music map.

Places like Sheffield’s “Bed”, and “The Loft” closely followed, and an offer from local radio   saw Jnr with his “All Housed Up” weekly show aired on SINE FM.

Jnr , naturally of course was asked to be part of all our local festivals with “The Summer Of Love” and “Party On The pit” under his belt, but so far Conisbrough Music Fest has evaded him……..until this year.

Reluctant to nail down a specific style, Jnr says his influences range from house and garage with Techno and tech house being the sound of the moment.
A keen ear for a great track, a well knowledgable and skilled DJ, Jnr can be seen this year working the EFX  in the SUBSET dance tent.....

When we first started SUBSET,it very quickly turned into a digital DJ school, with the instant access to the right tunes and the creativity needed to entertain a crowd was all at the touch of a few buttons. But it wasn’t that easy, the digital age brought a new learning curve on the road to enjoy being a DJ,and the SUBSET founding members found themselves accidentally creating digital DJ lessons along the way with technical support to those who wanted to learn. I can honestly say nearly all who have tried, are still with us,and who was to know that in little under a year one of them would reap the rewards.

Chris Duffty has gone from buying his first digital controller to playing on internet radio, then on to hosting his own SUBSET event, eventually taking to the festival decks in the dance dent at CMF 2017.His night which is held in his home town of Conisbrough on the 1st of April at the “ALMA” pub is a big step for Chris, who wanted to help out more and find out what it takes to become involved in everything SUBSET does from start to finish. His own blend of tech house and the style of his DJ ing says nothing about the little time he has been spinning and we thought it was just right that Chris got the chance to show off his skills. A real SUBSET success story, you can catch Chris spinning in the dance tent at CMF 2017,show your support, this is real life home grown talent.

Conisbrough Music Fest are pleased to announce we will be inviting the local community to design this year’s official event t shirt.
We’d like to ask all budding local designers of any age and ability to come up with a design which incorporate the various aspects of Conisbrough, it’s heritage and history and not least it’s music. The competition will be split into two categories, under 16 for the design of the children's t shirt and 16 plus for the adult design. Local schools and colleges as well as individuals will be encouraged to apply. The closing date for submissions will be Friday, 12th May.
Prizes will be given for both age groups and will include free tickets to this year’s festival. The competition will be judged by the team behind Doncopolitan magazine.
Entries should be sent to and headed, “T Shirt Competition”

Darren Eastell & The Freaky Fingers are the latest band to rise from the hotbed of Music in Doncaster. Once described as ‘Kitchen Sink Rock & Roll’ the band comprises of 3 members.
On Percussion is Liam Cowan, a graduate of The Roland Music College Liam took a break from music and recently dipped his toe back in only to be instantly snapped up to add his aggressive yet original percussion style to the mix. On Lead Guitar is Liam Hedley, with the most eclectic mix of music taste known to modern man Liam is a perfect fit for the Band to add his simple yet brilliant lead riffs. On Rhythm guitar and Lead Vocals is Darren Eastell. Darren Started out playing solo and quickly realised he needed to add to his sound so the plan was set to create a 3 piece that could deliver brilliant songs with relevant lyrics and Darren Eastell & The Freaky Fingers were Born! There's a case for saying that they're the CMF resident band having played every year so far. That tells you all you need to know! We love them and so will you!
